Panthers lock in netball leaders

-

Ready for 2022, we welcome back a familiar team as well as some new faces to the netball at Benalla All Blacks with the goal to continue the momentum that was created this year and build on the positive and inclusive atmosphere at our club.

Seniors

Samantha Bochtler and Jessie Kipping have been appointed as co-coaches for A-grade, Jessie Kipping appointed to coach B-grade, and Keeley Sheehan appointed to coach B-Reserve.

Rebecca Mudd continues on in the netball coordinator role.

Sam and Jessie demonstrated their knowledge and enthusiasm for the game and in coaching their respective teams this year with tremendous success.

A and B-grade finished with finals places.

Unfortunately COVID-19 impacted the finals series for both coaches giving them the drive for their teams to continue their achievements in the new year.

Keeley was a valuable asset in a supportive role this year and we are thrilled to have her step up in this leadership position and further develop her coaching abilities.

Benalla All Blacks is pleased to announce the appointments of Val Kipping to coach 17/U as well as Courtney Sammon and Jemma Smith co-coaching 15/U.

Val joins the coaching team with years of experience both coaching and umpiring and has a wealth of knowledge to share.

Courtney Sammon is excited to join All Blacks after her years of coaching at both domestic and squad levels.

Courtney is keen to upskill up and coming coaches and will be taking

the reigns mentoring Jemma Smith in 2022. We are excited to see what this dynamic duo brings.

“Val Kipping has been around in netball for a long time, she has so much experience to bring,” netball coordinator Rebecca Mudd said.

“Her daughters Sam and Jessie are also coaches in our senior side which really helps promote that family environment which is something we’ve worked hard on.

“Courtney has coached at a squad and domestic level; she has so much enthusiasm and passion for bring players together and get the best out of the sport, so I think she’s going to do a fantastic job.

“She’s taking Jemma Smith under her wing to give her the experience of working in a supportive role which is great, it ensures we’ve got coaches for future years.”

These appointments will assist the All Blacks field under-15 and under-17 sides after not being able to do so in 2021.

“The juniors we did have wanting to play this year, we were able to put

into B-reserve as development players and it built a lot of confidence and strengthened them,” Mudd said.

“Next year, it gives that fire and want to be out there and that has an outreaching effect which could drive participation also.”

Benalla All Blacks have been working alongside Netball Victoria following the end of the 2021 O&K season to support growth in participation in juniors for 2022.

Netball Victoria, together with Benalla All Blacks and Benalla Netball Association will be delivering netball clinics during the summer school holidays on Tuesday, January 18, and Thursday, January 20. Additional details will be provided when available.

There will be two age groups focussed on at the clinics.

The younger age group focuses on playing domestically within the Benalla Netball Association, building a foundation level, which feeds into club level whereas the older age group will look to head straight into club level club.
