Car clocked at 189kmh

A car has been impounded after allegedly being clocked at 189 km/h on the Hume Fwy near Benalla.

Sergeant Shaun Hillier of Benalla Highway Patrol said highway patrol officers were disappointed to witness a driver put their lives and others at risk.

“These behaviours create risks that can have very serious and some times fatal consequences,” Sgt Hillier said.

“No-one has the right to create these risks and expose other road users to these dangers.”

The vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1625 and the driver will receive a summons to appear at court for multiple offences.
