Learn about Cooinda volunteering opportunities

- By Simon Ruppert

Cooinda aged care’s volunteer coordinator Adrian Daw will be available for a chat outside Amcal on Thursday, April 7.

He will be meeting and talking to the public about the wide variety of volunteering opportunities Cooinda offers from 10.30am.

“Cooinda has a wide variety of volunteering opportunities, there is sure to be an area of interest to suit just about anyone,” Mr Daw said.

“We have a team of up to 30 regular volunteers, some of whom have been volunteering at Cooinda for more than 20 years.”

Cooinda chief executive officer Alex McKenna said its volunteers undertook important and diverse roles with their valuable contributions well appreciated and acknowledged by staff, residents and families alike.

“They undertake important roles such as greeting visitors at our screening station, resident companionship, assisting residents at meal times and fun activities, such as coordinating a painting group and footy tipping, all focussing on the care and quality of life of everyone at Cooinda,” he said.

New volunteers to Cooinda will undertake a full orientation process, which includes familiarisation of policies and procedures, the Aged Care Standards and training across several areas including Infection Control and Occupational Health and Safety.

If you would like to find out about becoming a volunteer at Cooinda Mr Daw would like to hear from you.
