When we’re stressed, we tend to clench the mus­cles in our jaw, neck and shoul­ders, which can bring on a pounder. Stand up and shake it out reg­u­larly – whether you feel it com­ing on or not! Try this sim­ple ten­sion-re­liev­ing stretch se­quence.

Raise and drop your shoul­ders sev­eral times in an ex­ag­ger­ated shrug, then roll back­wards and for­wards 5 times.

To ease jaw ten­sion, tilt your head back slightly. Then, open your mouth as wide as you can and hold the stretch for 15 sec­onds.

For your neck, lower your chin to your chest and hold for 15 sec­onds. Straighten up then slowly tilt your head towards the ceil­ing. Close your teeth gen­tly to com­plete the stretch.

Tilt your head towards your right shoul­der. Don’t force it any fur­ther than is com­fort­able. Hold for 15 sec­onds. Slowly straighten and re­peat on the op­po­site side.

Fin­ish the ex­er­cise by re­peat­ing the shoul­der roll.
