STEP 1 Clear the area of debris such as branches, leaves and rocks using a wheelbarrow to remove. Save any suitable branches to use for the gnome house. Rake the area.
STEP 2 Fill cleared site with garden soil using a shovel. There is no need to level the area or compact the soil.
STEP 3 Position 2 upturned half-wine barrels on the soil and measure the distance in between to cut decking boards, or other recycled outdoor timber, to length. Position boards on the barrels and secure with screws using a drill.
STEP 4 Using the shovel, dig out a creek bed to run under the bridge and partway through the site. Mound the soil on either side.
STEP 5 Pour river pebbles into creek bed and arrange large bush rocks.
