Paper templates will help you plan your gallery so you don’t pound a million holes in the wall.

Gather your supplies

• Roll of paper or newspaper sheets

• Ruler, pencil, scissors and painter’s tape

• Picture hanging nails, screws or fixings

• Hammer or screwdriver

Here’s how

STEP 1 Create paper templates by tracing the outline of each frame on paper. Cut out the templates.

STEP 2 Place each frame face down, stretch the hanging wire toward the centre top of the frame. Measure from the top edge down to the wire. Make a note of the measurement.

STEP 3 Mark each template’s centre at the depth of each hanger (as noted in Step 2).

STEP 4 Use painter’s tape to arrange templates on the wall to your liking. Drive a nail or screw into wall at each mark. Remove templates and hang your frames.
