All you need to turn a blank card into a personalised Christmas card is a set of watercolours and a fine tip marker. Watercolour paints are super easy to use and fast drying so they’re perfect for beginners and kids.

Gather your supplies

• White A4 paper board or blank white cards • Watercolour paints

• 10-well round palette

• Size 1 round watercolour paintbrush

You’ll also need

Sketching pencil; fine-tip black marker

FOR YOU TO NOTE

We used paper board but you can use water colour paper. This technique works on most paper and cardboard.

Here’s how

STEP 1 Fold the paper board in half. Lightly draw baubles on the front in pencil. To get perfect circles, trace around small lids and bottle caps. Write ‘Merry Christmas’ below the baubles in pencil.

STEP 2 Combine small amounts of each paint colour with water in the wells of the palette to thin the paint. Use size 1 round brush to lightly fill each circle with a different colour and leave to dry.

STEP 3 Draw hanging strings and bows above baubles.

STEP 4 Outline baubles with a fine black marker, and go over the words.
