FESTIVE SNOWMAN
Turn a couple of socks and a pack of rice into a jolly snowman. You can use the technique to make whatever you like – Santa, elves and more!
Gather your supplies
• White dress socks (2)
• Uncooked rice
• Coloured child’s sock
• Buttons
• 10mm-wide grosgrain ribbon
• Mini pompoms
• Twigs and cork wedge
You’ll also need
Funnel; rubber bands; scissors; craft glue; marker pen
Here’s how
STEP 1 Put funnel in a sock, fill with rice and close top with a rubber band. Put rice-filled sock in another sock.
STEP 2 Close second sock top with a rubber band. Add another rubber band further down to make the head. Cut off excess sock fabric at the top.
STEP 3 Cut off the ankle part of a child’s sock. Put ankle piece over head to make the hat and tuck in the cut end. Glue buttons to body.
STEP 4 Wrap ribbon around neck and cut to length for a scarf, arranging it to one side. Glue pompoms to ends of scarf.
STEP 5 Draw dots for eyes, and a mouth, with marker. Make slits on either side of body and insert twigs for arms. Glue on cork wedge nose and a pompom to the hat.
