• 16 floristry stem wires, green • Double-sided tape • Quilting hoop 350mm dia.

• BHG Christmas red ribbon • Glue

• Little bird (instructions, page 190) • Extra red DMC Perle thread

Here’s how

STEP 1 Cut 50 circles of the dark green card and 14 of the leaf shapes from Christmas paper. Cut 1 flag for the centre.

STEP 2 Start by attaching the green circles to the stem wire with double-sided tape, sticking a same coloured circle on each side of the wire. Spacing does not have to be even. Double up with two double-sided circles on 8 of the wires. Reserve one circle.

STEP 3 Twist 8 stem wires onto the left-hand bottom quarter of the hoop. Repeat on the right-hand side.

STEP 4 Cover the bottom half of the hoop with ribbon by wrapping it around the hoop and stem wire.

STEP 5 Glue leaves in place and glue a green circle to the bottom centre.

STEP 6 Tie bird to the centre.

Tie thread to the top for hanging. Using double-sided tape, stick on the flag to the centre.
