FRINGED NAPKINS Gather your supplies
• Mid-weight linen fabric, 1.4 x 1m (makes 6 napkins) • Sharp scissors
• Tape measure • Sewing pins
Here’s how
STEP 1 Trim selvages. At 1 edge, measure 45cm from edge and mark with a pin. Snip into fabric at this mark. Repeat twice more across the fabric. STEP 2 Use both hands to rip the fabric into 3 separate lengths. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 using a long strip to make 2 napkins, each 45cm square. Repeat, using the remaining 2 long strips. STEP 3 Carefully fray all edges, by about 5-10mm. To prevent further fraying, stay stitch around each napkin, about 3mm in from frayed edges.
