We’ve GONE FISHIN’

-

Heading out of town for the holidays? If so, you may have to leave your fishy friends behind. But who is going to feed them while you’re away? Try these solutions and you can rest easy.

PHONE A FRIEND Recruit a neighbour, family member or friend to take on feeding duties. If you do decide to go down the recruitment route, show them exactly how much food and how often to feed them. And, to prevent overfeeding, set out individual feeding portions for each meal so they can’t get it wrong.

FEEDING BLOCKS Check out vacation and weekend feeding blocks, which dissolve and release food after a few hours. Feeding blocks come in various sizes and will depend on how many fish you have, the size of your aquarium and the length of time you are away. AUTOMATIC FEEDERS If you’re going for a month, electronic automatic feeders are the way to go. They dispense your fish’s normal food of pellets, flakes or freeze-fried foods at set times of the day. Tech-enabled automatic feeders will allow you to feed your fish with the click of a phone app button! That’s blup-in fantastic!

Whichever feeding method you choose, it’s best to test it out a few days before you leave. Peace of mind is knowing your scaly pets are fed and you’ll return to a happy and healthy tank.
