It’s paving time All you need to know to become a master paver

-

Ordering the right quantity of materials for your paving job is the first task on your list. Pavers are sold in square metres, so just measure the dimensions of your paved area. Don’t forget to add about 10 per cent extra for breakages and cuts. For landscaping materials, here’s what you’ll need per 10 square metres of paved area:

• Roadbase: 1.5 tonnes

• Paving sand: 0.5 tonnes

• Bagged washed sand: 30kg

• Haunch (per 5 linear metres): 80kg bagged brickie’s sand and 20kg cement.

Create a focal point in your garden with your paving design. Extend them into your garden beds and place a water feature on top.

Never paved before?

Try a small project such as your front path. It’s the perfect project to cut your paving teeth on.

Charcoal pavers

seem to disappear into the background, allowing the beauty of the timber to shine through.

Using pavers

to create stepping stones is another design trick to add interest. Lay them on a sand and cement bed, rather than sand.
