build PLANTER COFFEE TABLES

-

Create a centrepiece with a difference by turning a trio of pots into an eye-catching set of coffee tables with built-in planters.

Gather your supplies

• One large and two medium pots • 17mm formply • 6 terracotta pots • Selected plants

You’ll also need

150mm-long timber block; pencil; jigsaw; drill; 10mm bit; premium potting mix

Here’s how

STEP 1 Place large pot upside down on formply. With pencil at the end of a 150mm-long timber block, trace a circle. Next, trace around the pot, then on the inside of this line, draw another circle to mark the thickness of the pot lip.

STEP 2 Cut out the largest circle using a jigsaw.

STEP 3 Position 2 small terracotta pots upside down on the formply within the marked pot area. Trace around the terracotta pots and on the inside of this, draw another circle to mark the thickness of the pot lip. You will be cutting out along this inner circle, to stop the pot falling through when put in the hole.

STEP 4 On inner circle marked for the small terracotta pots, use a 10mm bit to drill a starter hole for your jigsaw blade, then cut out shapes. Repeat Steps 1-4 for medium pots.

STEP 5 Fill terracotta pots with potting mix and your chosen plants. When large and medium pots are in place, position corresponding formply tabletops, then insert terracotta pots into holes on tabletop.
