Better Homes and Gardens (Australia) - - Container Gardens -

Don’t throw away the old, the ugly and the seemingly useless – find them a new purpose and give your greenery an extra edge

3 Chill out with a pewter bowl and match old china crockery with the colours of your vegetation. Plant: Ornamental chilli (Capsicum annuum).

1 Weigh up your options and turn beautiful vintage kitchen scales into a unique pedestal. Plant: Hindu rope (Hoya compacta).

4 Combine soft with hard by mixing frond plants with cast iron. Note the old iron lace column. Perfect! Plant: Golden cane palm (Dypsis lutescens).

2 Glass is classy so make jars or vases terrariums. Plants: Rainbow ginny (Peperomia clusiifolia) and mother-in-law’s tongue (Sansevieria trifasciata).

Different textures and shapes are mixed not only with the plants (hoya, fig and aloe) but also the containers.
