GIVE YOUR BATHROOM A MAKEOVER

The trick to a new look on a budget is to use specialty paint and simple woodworking projects to refresh your space.

Better Homes and Gardens (Australia) - - Bathroom Revamp -

1 refresh the ceiling

Clean ceiling of mould or stains. Cut in edges with a brush, then use a roller to apply a ceiling paint formulated for bathrooms.

3

PAINT the WINDOW Undercoat then paint the window reveals and sill with white enamel paint. Swap the old blinds for fresh white venetians.

5

ADD TIMBER ACCENTS

Install a dado rail. Cut moulding to length and nail to the wall. Fill holes with timber filler in same colour, then sand smooth.

2

TRANSFORM THE TOILET Mask off surrounds, base and flush buttons. Sand cistern, prime and spray-paint white. Replace the seat with a black one.

4

BUILD A LADDER Use the same timber and technique as the toilet screen (page 110) to make a ladder. Space the central rungs further apart for larger towels.

6

UPGRADE THE TAPWARE Go black with your mixers, taps and shower head to match the new toilet seat – you’ll need a plumber for this job.
