PROJECT PAVED PATH

-

Gather your supplies

• Recycled pavers

• Brickies sand and cement

You’ll also need Shovel; wooden float; wheelbarrow; stringline; rubber mallet; spirit level; measuring tape; steel trowel

Here’s how

STEP 1 Li„ up pavers from path and stack nearby. STEP 2 Remove about 20mm of the sand bed under the pavers to allow for the sand cement bed the pavers will sit on. Smooth out using the wooden float.

STEP 3 Mix brickies sand and cement in the ratio of 4:1 with water in a wheelbarrow to make mortar. Make the mix on the stiff side.

STEP 4 Set up a stringline that will be the line for one side of your pavers. Lay a bed of mortar then sit paver on top so the edge meets the stringline and it is 100mm away from the main paved area. Use a rubber mallet to push the paver into the mortar and make level. Repeat process to lay another paver next to the first.

STEP 5 Continue laying rows of pavers that are 100mm apart. Alternate number of pavers in each row to create interest. Make sure pavers in each row are level with each other and that all the rows are in the same plane.

STEP 6 Use a trowel to force mortar under the pavers to ensure they are fully supported and then create a haunch around the rows, splaying the mortar down away from the pavers.
