Sweet dreams are made of WREATHS

Create circles of loveliness to give your walls a dreamy decoration EASY STEPS TO WALL WREATHS

-

edroom art is often a framed print or canvas, usually above the bed. But there are so many more ways to decorate the walls of your sleeping space. The key is to complement your bedhead, so while a traditional artwork goes well with a rectangular style, what about a curvaceous cane or cast iron-style headboard? You need something shapely on the walls to team with the theme. This project shows you how to use bendy cane (or you can use a metal wreath ring) to make a wreath-style deco adorned with native foliage, preserved flowers and natural-fibre ribbon. It’s easy, pretty and budget-friendly to boot. Now that’s clever

Gather your supplies

• Round core cane

• Wide hessian ribbon (or other natural fibre)

• Eucalyptus and other native foliage

• Preserved flowers

You’ll also need Scissors; floral wire; twine; self-adhesive clear wall hooks

For you to know

• Eucalyptus leaves are ideal for a project such as this, as they will dry out but not go bri‰le. Bo‰lebrush leaves also work well.

• Preserved flowers are available from florists. Look for pink amaranthus, white fern leaves and dried bunny tail grass.

Here’s how

STEP 1 Bend core cane into a hoop shape, winding it around at least 3 times.

Create 3 hoops in total, each of a different size.

STEP 2 Cut ribbon in half lengthways with scissors and fray the ends.

STEP 3 Insert ribbon ends through cane, then wind ribbons loosely around hoops.

STEP 4 Cut ribbons and weave each end through cane to secure. Tease ribbon ends to fray further.

STEP 5 Wrap floral wire around foliage stems to make bundles.

STEP 6 Insert foliage bundles into cane hoops, then secure with floral wire.

STEP 7 Add preserved flowers next to foliage, tying them on with wire or twine and tucking them under ribbons.

STEP 8 Tie trailing preserved flowers, here pink amaranthus, to the opposite side of hoops with twine, as desired.

STEP 9 Play with arrangement and placement of foliage, flowers and ribbon so each hoop is different. Hang trio near your bed with clear hooks.
