CARING FOR LILIES

Even if your garden is small, you can grow lilies almost anywhere in Australia. One bulb will produce a plant 20-30cm wide, so a large container on a balcony or in a courtyard will also do.

Morning sun or light shade, protected from the western sun. Humus rich, slightly acidic, well drained. In containers, use quality po ing mix. Keep soil moist but not saturated or bulbs will rot. Fertilise poor soils and add compost or manure when planting. Feed in late winter and summer.
