8 MANDEVILLA
If you think of tropics, you think of sunshine, but mandevilla – with its perfectly pink or deliciously deep red flowers – is an understorey plant and likes partial shade in the tropics. In temperate areas, give it a sheltered, sunny spot, perhaps against a brick wall where it can pick up radiated heat. It may not flower all year in cooler areas as it does in the tropics, but in summer it will be a blast.
Build a lattice just so you can paint it with this airy vine.
