SO WING YOUR SEEDS
• For a large crop, fill seed tray with seed-raising mix, make a dip in each compartment and sow seeds to depth indicated on seed packet. Cover with vermiculite to ensure good drainage and aeration. Spray with water from a trigger bole. Put in a sunny, warm, protected area and cover with a clear plastic lid or plastic wrap. Keep mix moist but not soaking – too much water can drown seeds. When seeds germinate, remove cover to harden up. Sow in the garden when at least four true leaves emerge.
• For small crops, and to reduce the trauma of poing up seedlings, plant your seeds directly into biodegradable peat or coir pots. Follow directions for seed trays. Aer germination, plant directly into garden. The pots break down.
