points for the skateboards, mark both lines from the same point.

STEP 7 Use a 25mm spade bit to drill holes through the first layer of timber at all marked points for the dowels. Wrap tape around the spade bit 18mm from the end to act as a depth gauge.

STEP 8 Drill pilot holes through centre of spade bit holes all the way through the second layer of timber.

STEP 9 Unscrew pieces of timber and remove sawdust. Spread PVA glue on the face where they will meet and screw back together again. Add extra screws in the centre clear of the dowel holes.

STEP 10 Sand entire rack to remove pencil marks and round off sharp edges. Remove dust.

STEP 11 Cut dowels to length. Scooter dowels are 140mm long and skateboard dowels are 220mm. Squirt a dab of glue into holes, then tap dowels in. Predrill and screw through holes in the back of the rack into the dowels, using 40mm screws. STEP 12 Apply 2 coats of furniture wax to the timber, using a cloth. Allow about 20 minutes between coats. STEP 13 Hang rack on the wall, making sure it is at the right angle with a spirit level on top. Predrill and screw into timber studs in the wall, using 100mm screws.
