EASY STEPS TO MAKE YOUR FACE MASK

-

Here’s how

STEP 1A If using the Cricut Maker, cut 6 pa ern pieces as instructed on Design Space.

STEP 1B If not using the Maker to cut your fabric, use the enlarged Face mask diagram (pictured right) to cut template from card using scissors. Fold the mask outer fabric piece in half, right sides together. Place card template on folded fabric. Using a rotary cu er, cut around the template, through both layers of fabric. You should have 2 mirrored pieces of Pa ern 1. Repeat to cut out 2 pairs of lining (to end up with 3 layers all up). Press fabric.

STEP 2 With outer fabric pieces right sides together, stitch around curve (centre seam). Repeat for the lining pairs. Snip into allowance along curve. Be careful not to cut through the stitching. Press the curved seams to one side. For each piece’s straight sides, press and stitch fabric 3mm to the wrong side.

STEP 3 With right sides together and leaving sides open, stitch outer fabric and 2 lining pieces together as one along the top and bo om edges. Backstitch at start and end of stitching to reinforce seams. Turn fabric right side out. Press.

STEP 4 Topstitch 6mm in from top and bo om edges.

STEP 5 For each elastic casing, fold and press the straight side 10mm to wrong side of your mask. Leaving enough room to thread the elastic and backstitching to reinforce the stitching, stitch close to previously folded/stitched side edges.

STEP 6 Cut elastic in half. Thread a length of elastic through casing with a safety pin. Ensuring elastic is flat and not twisted, join elastic ends with zigzag stitch. Conceal join in the casing.
