The ultimate 4-step facial Pamper yourself at home plus tips to beat skin stress
Light your favourite candle, turn on a little soothing music and follow these steps for a pro-level facial at home
STEP 01
Start by washing any dirt, oil and makeup off your face and neck. Make sure you’re not using any products that are going to dry your skin out (it will feel tight if it’s dry). Why? If your cleanser dehydrates the skin cells, then all your products after wards will have repair work to do. Instead, use a low foaming cream or oil cleanser. TRY 1 Toleriane Caring Wash Cleanser, $27.95, La Roche-posay.
STEP 02
To achieve that gorgeous post facial glow, you need to remove complexion dulling dead surface cells. An exfoliating mask with alpha hydroxy acids refreshes your skin in just minutes. If you’re using a granular scrub, use gentle pressure. The aim here is to remove any dead cells without causing any irritation to the skin.
TRY 2 Vitamin C Resurfacing Treatment Mask + AHA Peel Kit, $27.49, Olay.
STEP 03
Not only does massage feel fabulous, it also increases blood flow and helps to lessen puffiness. Prep your face and neck with a facial oil. Then, with your fingers or a specialised tool, work horizontally out from the centre. Move from your forehead to your temple, under your eyes to the temple, the side of your nose to the top of the cheek and your chin up to the ear, then vertically from the top of the jawbone down your neck. Repeat five times on each side. Use a so cloth to remove excess oil.
TRY 3 Sculpt tool, $110, Imbibe, and Best Skin 4 Enriching Face Oil, $58, Ipsum.
STEP 04
Finish with a layer of revitalising moisturiser, preferably one with collagen supporting ingredients, or one that’ll add luminosity. TRY 5 Ultra Brightening Moisturiser Cream, $89, Ultraceuticals, or FIRMX 6 Collagen Moisturiser, $130, Peter Thomas Roth.
