HOW IT WORKS
Fear starts in the part of the brain that alerts the body when we see something potentially dangerous. Say you’re out walking and something catches your eye in the grass. The image processing centre in your brain might say ‘snake!’ and trigger fear. But within seconds the thinking part of the brain assesses the situation, whether it’s ‘never mind, that’s a garden hose’ or ‘snake – run the other way!’
