As falling temperatures guide us into the chilly months ahead, there’s so much to get excited about...

While we love a hot Aussie summer, it’s autumn and winter that give us a chance to rug up and embrace our cold-weather passions. So if you’ve always wanted to whip up your own winter woollies, check out our 36-page Knitting & Crochet special, jam-packed with pretty and practical projects for all skill levels. There’s even a necklace you can crochet. So lovely! But that’s not to say you have to stay inside, especially if you’re lucky enough to live in a place where mild winters make it the perfect time to put in some hard yards in the garden and backyard. Looking for inspiration? You could create space for vibrant veg (page 52), build an entertainer’s haven that’s small on space but big on ideas (page 92) or even plant your own mini apple orchard (page 38) for a bountiful harvest in the years to come. Of course, all that effort will naturally work up an appetite. And you can satisfy your hunger with food fresh-from-the-oven, from a flaky, creamy cheese and herb pie to meltin-the-mouth choc pudding (page 86) and your best-ever roast pork, stuffed with fabulous fruit and served with crunchy crackling (page 68). It’s ideal for a Sunday night family dinner. Which brings me to Mother’s Day. It’s never too early to plan on spoiling Mum, and we have you covered, with gorgeous gifts to both make (page 128) and buy (page 124). Just remember to tell her you love her. Enjoy! DORA
