Picture-perfect? Not always. Here are the dos and don’ts of picking photos to give your stylist an idea of the look you're after.

DO tear or print out images to show the stylist. You can also download a hairstyle 'try on' app to play around with different styles on a picture of yourself and see what suits.

DON’T get caught up in a pretty face. Is it the haircut that you want or do your really just want to look like someone else? Try putting your thumb over the face of a picture and asking yourself if you still want that style.

DO be realistic. If you have curly hair, a sleek bob is likely not the best cut for you. Choose pictures of women with a hair type and face shape similar to yours.

DON’T expect an exact replica. Your stylist should tweak the cut so it works for your hair type, face shape and lifestyle. Talk with them about what the changes will be.
