Here’s how
STEP 1 Remove drawers from tallboy, then unscrew faces and take off knobs.
TIP If your drawers don’t have separate face panels, just remove the knobs .
STEP 2 Sand drawer faces, and tallboy top, sides and frame pieces, using a block and sandpaper.
STEP 3 Spray drawer faces and tallboy with primer, working on a dropsheet in a well-ventilated area. Leave to dry.
STEP 4 Roll out a length of wallpaper, right side down. Place drawer face, primed side down, on wrong side of wallpaper and mark it in pencil, using a ruler, then cut out with scissors.
STEP 5 Mix paste and water in a tray with a paint stirrer, and add a healthy squirt of PVA glue. TIP You can also get premixed paste.
STEP 6 Lay drawer face right side up, then use a roller to apply paste.
STEP 7 Position wallpaper, on drawer face and smooth it from the centre out, then use a large dry paintbrush to get rid of any air bubbles.
TIP Don’t use a straight edge smoother as you would for wall-hung paper, as it will fla en the design.
STEP 8 Trim excess edges of wallpaper from drawer face with a utility knife.
STEP 9 Sand the cut edges smooth, then allow the wallpaper paste to dry for the recommended time.
STEP 10 Paint wallpaper drawer faces, spraying evenly from side to side. Give tallboy 2 coats of paint. Leave to dry.
STEP 11 Drill a screw hole through back of drawer faces to a ach new knobs. Return drawers to tallboy.
