APPLIQUÉ MADE EASY
All you need to create gorgeous appliqué pieces is fabric, fusible web and your clothes iron.
• Traditionally, appliqué is ornamental needlework where small fabric pieces are aached to a larger piece in a decorative way – paerns, leers and pictures. It is done by hand or machine stitching and used for garments and quilts.
• Fusible web is a manmade fibre with adhesive on both sides that melts when heated. You aach it to the appliqué piece, then remove the paper backing and place it on the larger fabric piece, ironing it to fuse the two pieces of fabric together. To finish, you then machine stitch each paern piece in place. You can buy fusible web at Spotlight and quilting suppliers.
