FABRIC CACHEPOT

Love to recycle? Dip into your fabric stash to make this gorgeous – and easy – cuff, which turns a humble jam jar into a delightful vase.

-

To start, measure the height and circumference of an empty jam jar and add 2cm to each measurement. Cut your fabric to this size. Repeat with a complementary fabric, taking 2cm off the height. Using iron-on bonding tape, press a 1cm hem to the wrong side of each fabric’s long sides. Turn over and position the narrow band on top of the wider one, sandwiching more tape in between, then iron to bond the bands together. Bond a 1cm hem at one end. Arrange the fabric band into a tube, wrong sides together, so the short ends overlap with hemmed edge on top. Use bonding tape to secure the overlap. Turn right side out and place over your jar.
