TOOLS AND TIPS

-

Circular Saw Comes with a range of blades for fine cuts and different materials. TOP tip Adjust the depth of the saw to suit the thickness of what you’re cutting. You’ll get a cleaner cut and the saw is less likely to jam.

Sanders

Ideal to get you started on a restoration project or to finish off a new build. Available in many sizes, a good general-purpose model is a random orbital sander. TOP tip To avoid sanding scratches, don’t push down on it – let the sander do the work.

Combination square

Used for squaring, marking and measuring, it’s the most versatile hand tool there is! TOP tip The bubble in the stock of the tool also helps you check small pieces for level and plumb. How handy!

Drills

Come in many sizes. Choose the one you find the most comfortable to hold and use. TOP tip Predrilling makes nailing easier and stops timber splitting. Use a bit half a millimetre thinner than the nail.

Impact Driver Powerful tool especially designed for driving screws. Socket bits can also be used for bolts. TOP tip Keep pressure on the driver when inserting screws to stop the driver bit from slipping on the screw head.
