For you to note

1 These instructions make your choice of three-, fouror five-point stars, which can be used as tree trims, gi toppers or to decorate a wreath (see far le ).

2 Work on a cu ing mat when making stars by hand.

Here’s how

STEP 1 Cut an equilateral triangle from paper for each star tip – each side measuring 30cm (large stars), 18cm (medium) or 11cm (small).

STEP 2 Score lines across triangle, spaced 2cm (large stars), 1.5cm (medium) or 1cm (small) apart, according to size of finished star.

STEP 3 Using scored lines as a guide, make accordion folds. Cut away tip of triangle at 3rd or 4th fold.

STEP 4 Gather folds as one, then pinch and fold in half so 2 long sides meet in the middle.

STEP 5 Use double-sided tape to secure the centre join. Snip off excess paper at tip. You have now completed 1 star tip.

STEP 6 Repeat Steps 1-5 for remaining star tips required for either three-, four- or five-point stars. To finish, use double-sided tape to join outer sides of each star tip to each other, with folded ends in centre. TIP To hang these stars or rose es, suspend them from a length of ribbon or fishing line, turned into a hanging loop by hot glueing the ends at the back, either side of a fold.
