EASY STEPS TO YOUR WALLMOUNTED LADDER RACK
Continue the hanging rack theme by making a ladder and mounting it on the wall. Position your pot plants at varying heights to ensure they all get the attention they deserve!
Gather your supplies
• 42 x 19mm x 1.8m Tasmanian oak (2)
• 19mm x 3m Tasmanian oak dowel (1)
• Hanging plants
• S hooks
You’ll also need Jigsaw; fine sandpaper; measuring tape; pencil; drill; 19mm spade bit; masking tape; PVA glue; countersinking drill bit; 40mm stainless steel decking screws; clear varnish; paintbrush; stud finder; 65mm screws
Here’s how
STEP 1 For side rails, use jigsaw to round ends of Tasmanian oak lengths in semi-circles. Smooth cut edges with fine sandpaper.
STEP 2 Mark side rails for holes where rungs will sit. Make outside rungs 100mm from each ladder end, then space remaining rungs 320mm apart. Drill 10mm deep holes at each point with 19mm spade bit. Use masking tape around spade bit to act as a depth gauge.
STEP 3 Cut five 270mm lengths of dowel for rungs. Spread glue on one end of first rung and tap into hole in first side rail.
STEP 4 Predrill using a countersinking drill bit and screw through side rail into rung to secure, using a decking screw. Repeat process for all rungs along this side.
STEP 5 Turn side rail and rung assembly upright. Spread glue on open ends of rungs and sit other side rail on top so ends of rungs go into holes on this rail. Predrill and screw through this rail into the rungs.
STEP 6 Apply 2 coats of clear varnish to the whole ladder. Leave to dry and sand lightly after each coat.
STEP 7 Use stud finder to locate timber studs behind the wall. Hold ladder on the wall in your desired position, then predrill and screw through side rail into wall studs using 65mm screws.
STEP 8 Hang plants from ladder using S hooks.
