EASY STEPS TO MAKE YOUR JUMP BOX Here’s how
STEP 1 Spread glue along edge of one small side and butt into one large side flush with its edge. Predrill using a countersinking drill bit, then screw together using 50mm screws.
STEP 2 Glue, predrill and screw ends to joined sides. Also screw brace to centre of joined sides.
STEP 3 Attach remaining large and small sides to the assembly to create your jumping box.
STEP 4 Using a putty knife, fill screw holes with wood filler and allow to dry. Sand entire box smooth, remove dust with a damp cloth, then apply a coat of decking stain. Allow to dry.
STEP 5 Attach adhesive number stencils to sides of box so numbers roughly match dimension of that side. Paint in red, let dry, then remove stencil.
EASY STEPS TO YOUR PUSH-UP BLOCKS Here’s how
STEP 1 To create timber thickness for the sides of the blocks, cut Tasmanian oak in half, laminate pieces together with glue and clamp (for a total thickness of 38mm). Leave to dry.
STEP 2 Use circular saw to cut Tasmanian oak for sides. Make base of sides 145mm and the angle on the sides 15°, making the top edge 73mm long.
STEP 3 Mark centre of sides 40mm from top edges on one face. Use 35mm spade bit to drill 10mm deep holes for bars at this point.
STEP 4 Cut 200mm long dowels for bars. Sand their ends, as well as the edges and faces of the sides.
STEP 5 Squirt glue into holes in sides, sit bars in holes and use clamps to pull pieces of 2 separate units together. Leave to dry.
STEP 6 Use a cloth to apply coats of furniture wax to full blocks. Attach anti-skid pads to bottom of blocks.
