CHOICES

In cool zones, plant ixia, daffodils, jonquils, Dutch iris, ranunculus (right), hyacinth, muscari and sparaxis. In the tropics, first chill them in a fridge crisper for 6-8 weeks.

BUY RIGHT Seek out big, plump bulbs, avoiding so , dry, withered or mouldy ones. Plant massed or in dri s, water o en and give a dressing of fertiliser.
