SHADY GARDENS

Traditional spring bulbs such as tulips, daffodils, ranunculi and hyacinths require full, so sun. If you have a shady spot that needs brightening up, in the past it meant planting snowdrops

(Galanthus sp), snowflakes (Leucojum sp) or bluebells. But there are other shade-loving spring bulbs such as erythronium and fritillaria that are ideal for under a tree, along that strip under the eaves or in the shadow of a hedge.
