CREATE POTTED BOUQUETS

You can create a bouquet effect in your containers by planting in layers.

• Big bulbs go in deeper than li le bulbs, so plant for the spray effect you want. Try planting tulips to about 13cm deep, then plant grape hyacinths to 5cm deep.

• On the edge of your container, put the fla er side of your bulbs facing outwards. The first leaves emerge from this side and will drape over the edge, so ening the pot. • Layer your bulbs by pu ing laterflowering bulbs in the pot first, adding more po ing mix, then planting your shorter, earlierflowering bulbs. Cover with more po ing mix. If you have a big enough pot, you can add extra layers a er that.

TIP Keep your bulbs cool by pu ing pots in the shade until they start to grow, then bring them out into the sun.
