PAVING THE WAY

THINKING ABOUT THE FUTURE, FAMILY AND HER LEGACY, STELLA INSURANCE CEO SAM WHITE IS AIMING TO MAKE THE WORLD A FAIRER, KINDER AND MORE EQUITABLE PLACE FOR EVERYONE

-

Innovation and insurance don’t often go hand in hand, but Stella Insurance isn’t here to maintain the industry status quo. Founded in 2020, Stella caters specifically to Australian women, who are statistically safer drivers and deserve more appropriate insurance options. However, their purpose is much bigger than just cars and profit. They’re looking to balance the gender biases that exist for women in matters such as insurance – and life at large.

When you’re running a gamechanging business like Stella Insurance, it’s easy to get lost in the work. CEO Sam White credits her children with helping her maintain perspective and stay organised.

WORK/LIFE BALANCE

“I start with the things most important to me,” Sam explains. “Keeping healthy, spending time with my kids, socialising with friends and, of course, work. Putting these things in my diary stops the inevitable creep that work can have into your private life.”

BUILDING THE FUTURE

Being the mum of both a daughter and a son has made Sam think about the future she’s helping to shape.

“Stella is designed to support women, in terms of the products we create, the experience our customers have, the marketing message we pump out, and our partnerships with Women’s & Girls’ Emergency Centre and Business Chicks. However, creating products through a female lens also makes the world a better place for my son.”

THE BOTTOM LINE

The driving force behind Stella has always been reform and, essentially, fairness. “I don’t want to be part of something that doesn’t leave the world a better place,” says Sam. “I want more equality so that both kids can live the kind of life they want to, without the weight of out-of-date stereotypes influencing those decisions.”
