Measuremen­ts

105W x 120Lcm (excl fringe)

Gather your supplies ARCADIA 8PLY 50g 5 balls each Lagoon (6308) and Amethyst (6311); 4 balls Hazelnut (6302); 3 balls each Aegean Blue (6310) and Brass (6312); 2 balls each Pine (6309) and Dusk (6306); 4mm crochet hook; 22cm-wide piece of cardboard; wool needle for sewing in ends.

NOTE Australian/uk crochet terminolog­y used throughout.

Tension

24 sts and 9 rows to 10cm, using 4mm hook. Correct tension is not essential for this throw, but stated measuremen­ts and yarn quantities are based on it.

Special abbreviati­ons dtrf = Double treble at front – work dtr (in front of previous sts) into specified st or sp.

dtrb = Double treble at back – work dtr (behind previous sts) into specified st. Throw Using 4mm hook and Lagoon, make 235ch loosely.

1st row Miss 3ch, * 1tr in next ch, 1ch, miss 1ch, rep from * to last 2ch, 1tr in each of last 2ch... 233 sktesy.

2nd row 3ch, miss first tr, * 1tr in next tr, 1ch, miss 1ch, rep from * to last 2 sts, 1tr in next tr, 1tr in turning ch.

3rd row 4ch, miss first tr, 1tr in next tr, 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr in next tr, dtrf in first missed= * 1tr in next tr, 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr in next tr, dtrf in ch sp below previous dtrf, rep from * to turning ch, 1tr in turning ch... 235 sts.

4th row 3ch, miss first tr and dtrf, 1tr in next tr, 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr in next tr, dtrb in first missed dtrf, * 1tr in next tr, 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr in next tr, dtrb in previous dtrf, rep from * to turning ch, miss 1ch, 1tr in next turning ch... 234 sts.

5th row 3ch, miss first tr and dtrb, * 1tr in next tr, 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr in next tr, 1ch, miss next dtrb, rep from * to last 4 sts, 1tr in next tr, 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr in next tr, 1tr in turning ch... 233 sts.

6th row As 2nd row. NOTE When changing colour, work until last yoh of tr at end of row remains. Referring to changing colour (treble) diagram (see page 168), use next colour to complete the st. Change to Hazelnut. Rep 2nd row twice. Change to Aegean Blue. Rep 2nd row twice, rows

3 to 5 inclusive once, then 2nd row once.

Last 8 rows form pa for rem.

Rep last 8 rows, always using Hazelnut in same place and working rem

6 row stripes in colour order of: Brass, Pine,

Amethyst, Aegean Blue, Dusk, Brass, Lagoon, Dusk, Pine, Aegean Blue, Brass and Amethyst. Fasten off.

To make up Fringe

Wind Lagoon around piece of cardboard and cut along

ne edge (see diagram, page 168). With right side of throw facing, fold 7 strands in half, draw loop through first stitch at matching colour end of throw (diagrams A and B), draw ends through loop and pull firmly (diagrams C and D). Repeat evenly along edge of throw. Using Amethyst, repeat along other end of throw. Trim neatly.
