Finished sizes

Large snowflakes, about 30cm dia.

Medium snowflakes, about 20cm dia.

Small snowflakes, about 10cm dia. and 11cm dia.

Gather your supplies

• 30 x 30cm cardstock in gold, white and antique gold

• Cricut Scoring Wheel

• A1 5mm-thick white foam board (optional)

• Clear acrylic triangle with stand, 90 x 120cm or sized to suit (optional)

• 3M picture hanging strips

For you to note

There are various snowflake designs you can use and size to suit. For the snowflake tree, all designs were used, some singly and others layered for a 3D effect. You can scale the large snowflakes down in size if making a smaller Snowflake tree.

Here’s how

STEP 1 Before you start, refer to the General instructions and supplies list (see page 167). Search Bhgchristmas22 for the various snowflake templates at design.cricut. com. Follow prompts to size and resize (as desired), then to score and cut snowflakes.

STEP 2 If using foam board as tree backing, cut an isosceles triangle shape to measure 90W at base and 120cmh. Use 3M picture strips to secure it to your wall temporarily. If using clear acrylic (pre-cut to suit) with a stand, there’s no need to attach it to wall.

STEP 3 For double- or triple-layered snowflakes, press score lines of snowflakes or make centre folds. Stack and stick 2 or 3 same size (large/medium; or small) snowflakes together at the centre with foam mounting squares/dots. Then, to create a relatively freeform 3D effect, use foam mounting squares/dots to stick alternate snowflake arms together about 4-5cm out from snowflake centre for the larger snowflakes. For small snowflakes, you’ll only need to stick snowflakes together at the centre. STEP 4 Using mounting tape, cover acrylic or foam triangle tree shape with mainly large single-layer snowflakes, allowing snowflake arms to extend beyond the sides and base. Attach a large triple layered snowflake at tree top. Fill gaps in tree by adding snowflakes (single, multi-layered, large and medium) to build up your tree’s snowflake layers. STEP 5 Add extra tree decorations with a few small (about 10cm dia.) doubleand/or triple-layered gold and/or white snowflakes.
