POSITIVE HELP

BOOST YOUR PARENTING SKILLS AND HELP TACKLE TROUBLESOME BEHAVIOURS WITH A FREE ONLINE PROGRAM FOR PARENTS AND CARERS OF YOUNG CHILDREN

-

Raising children is unique to every family structure and the personalities that make up that group. But there are many shared lessons and techniques that have been proven – through research and practical application – to help parents and carers navigate everything childhood presents.

Developed by the University of Queensland, the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program is designed to make a di erence in how you raise your family. The online course helps you to stay calm under pressure, strengthen your relationship with your children, fix issues before they become real problems, and positively influence your child’s skills and development. It’s packed with tips and 17 strategies to implement at di erent ages.

This fully-researched program helps to improve child emotional wellbeing, solve problems early on and reduce stress, both for you and your children. It’s also designed to give you confidence in handling di erent ages, stages and situations as you face them.

For Jen Barratt, mother to a toddler and expecting her second child soon, the course has been an invaluable tool alongside her own instincts and support from like-minded mums.

“One of the modules addressed toddler tantrums, which I’m currently experiencing,” says Jen. “It’s a challenge for any parent experiencing a toddler kicking or screaming for a packet of lollies in the supermarket. The Triple P tip that really resonated with me was to consider the longterm implications of short-term, snap decisions. For example, if I give in to my toddler’s behaviour and give him the lollies, then that is rewarding him [‘accidental rewards’]. It might be a short-term fix, but it will cause problems long term. Instead, I need to think about the skills that I can teach him now to help him manage his tantrums in the future.”
