Drivers claim to wait up to 100 days to receive permits to travel
DRIVERS claim they have had to wait up to 100 days to receive permits to travel with oversize loads in some states, putting contracts and businesses at risk.
The delays which have impacted on transport operators within WA has sparked action from the newly founded action group Western Roads Federation.
Readers voiced concerns on Facebook before Christmas.
Steven Rowley: “Been waiting 43 days for a permit now from NHVR. With Xmas fast approaching doubt we will get it before the travel dates run out.” Doug Tandberg: “The magic word here is NATIONAL.
“That assumes were working under a NATIONAL system. “Sadly we’re not. “Have a real go and make it a national system and stop every state doing what they believe it the right way.”
John Bardsley: “Shouldn’t take even 100 hours. Used to get permits back from
Vicroads within 100 minutes and that was almost a decade ago.”
Sean Richardson: “NSW mostly less than 24-48 hours to get permits so why does it take so long in Qld its ridiculous.” Jeremy Green: “How about if we all stick together and just drive - what they gonna do about?? Just like the Euraka stockade or are we just a bunch or scared robots that can be controlled!!”
Bruce Skelton: “Public servants who get paid go home every night and could care less about any body but them selfs (sic).”
