YOUNG Army pri­vate Scott Haskard drives nu­mer­ous trucks for the army in­clud­ing a Ken­worth 909, Mack Superliner and In­ter­na­tional S-Line.

Aged 29, Pte Haskard has been in the Army for 12 years and was hav­ing a rest in the park­ing area of the BP Clu­den on Septem­ber 16.

He was in an eight­ies model In­ter­na­tional and trans­port­ing an In­fantry Troop Car­rier.

“I am based in Bris­bane and picked up the car­rier at High Range Train­ing Area near Townsville and am tak­ing it back south,” he said.

Out­side work his hob­bies in­clude mo­tor­bikes and 4WD ve­hi­cles in the Bris­bane area.

Hav­ing done sev­eral trips re­cently be­tween Bris­bane and Townsville, Pte Haskard said ig­no­rant car­a­van driv­ers proved chal­leng­ing.

“Just a few days ago one was do­ing 60km/h in a 100 zone and we couldn’t pass then it sped up to 105km/h,” he said.
