A SHORTAGE of rest areas providing shade for truckies is a concern for Robert Greville, who drives a Volvo FH16 for Peter Tippett Haulage out of Brisbane.
I saw the 42-year-old Robert during a very hot day on the outskirts of Townsville where he was parked up. Robert said he loves the job and has been with the company for 11 years.
“We certainly could do with some rest areas that have shade in the heat of the day,” Robert said.
The Volvo is powered by a 610hp motor and has a standard 18-speed Roadranger gearbox.
Robert had transported plastic tanks from Brisbane to Townsville and was waiting for news of a backload.
He said parts of the Warrego Highway were rough to travel on.
Outside of work, he is into motorsports and enjoys watching the V8 Supercar events.
Robert doesn’t have an electronic logbook yet but suspects he may soon.
“I am just starting to get educated about the Chain of Responsibility,” he said.
His favourite stop-off for food is at Wallumbilla, which is 40km east of Roma.
