A FORD Louisville LNT 9000 was the first truck driven by now 48-year-old Darrin Magnussen.
“That was a long time ago when I drove for Bowman’s Transport out of Jandowae,” he said.
Darrin now drives a Western Star 4900 for Townsville company Bluedog Haulage and rates it a good truck.
“I have been a driver for about 30 years,” he said when in the parking area of the BP Cluden.
Darrin rates much of the Bruce Highway as needing work to ensure safer travelling.
“A lot of the section between Brisbane and Cairns is bad in places,” he said.
Although Darrin doesn’t use an electronic log book, he has no doubt “that will be coming soon”.
Darrin said there was nowhere near enough truckie-friendly rest areas and doesn’t have a hobby.
“This truck takes up much of my time,” he said.
Regarding the COR laws, Darrin said he had an open mind on how effective they would be overall for the industry.
