Kelson Gale

WELL, life is interesting on the Midland Highway at the moment, seemingly endless roadworks and speed restrictions.

We caught up with Kelson Gale from Devonport, originally Smithton, when he rolled in to Mood food at Kempton, driving a Transport Sales and Hire 2006 Western Star Constellation with a 450 Detroit up front and towing a box.

He was from Goodwood in Hobart on his return leg back home to Devonport, and then knocking off for the day.

“I’ve been with Mark for nearly 12 months now,” he said. “And before that I was towing logs out of Strahan on the West Coast for a couple of years. But I’ve been driving for 17 years or so, always heavy machinery etc. I grew up around trucks and tractors on the farm, and so it’s in the blood you might say. Mark is a great guy to work for, and I enjoy the job, the driving, and the people you meet along the way.”

We asked him about how he spent his time off, and he replied: “Mainly tinkering around in the shed with motorbikes etc. Oh, and taking it easy.”
