Alex Brunacci

“I REALLY do like this Freightliner, it’s an ex-driver training truck with only 480,000km on the clock. It still has its original dual brake pedals, and it has been meticulously looked after. Look at the name on the bug deflector, Allessandro, and I guess you may get the picture.”

And our eye was certainly taken by this immaculate B&B Transport 1991 FL 112 Freightliner, and its amiable driver, Alex Brunacci from Launceston, when they wheeled in to the Caltex Roadhouse at Kempton.

“I’m on my return leg from Hobart back to Devonport with two boxes, after a fairly busy day,’’ Alex said.

“I’ve had the Freightliner for three years now, and it is all I’d hoped for and everything is going well, couldn’t be better in fact. It’s my own business, but I’ve always had trucks.

“I also run B&B gardening and home maintenance, and that keeps me on my toes.

“I usually put in a 15-hour day, and that’s seven days a week, but I enjoy keeping busy, and I love getting out on the road too.”

When asked about time off, Alex laughed and said “you’ve got to be joking”.
