Man faces child sex charges
A Broome man is due to appear in court after being charged with a string of child sex offences.
Kimberley Joint Response Team detectives charged a 44-year-old man last week after an investigation into allegations of child sex abuse and exploitation.
It is alleged he assaulted and indecently recorded a boy and girl, who were both nine years old at the time of the first offence, between October 2016 and December last year.
Electronic storage devices were seized after an executed search warrant on the man’s home. It is alleged these devices belonged to the man and preliminary assessment-identified images of child exploitation material. The man has been charged with 77 counts of indecent recording of a child under 13 years, 14 counts of indecent dealing of a child under 13 years, nine counts of procuring a child under 13 years to do an indecent act, two counts of persistent sexual conduct with a child under 16 years and one count of sexual penetration of a child under 13 years of age. The investigation continues. The man is to appear in Broome Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
