One of the biggest conferences ever staged in Broome is set to begin on Tuesday.

The 2018 National Native Title Conference, Many Laws, One Land, will highlight opportunities and challenges for native title.

The three-day event at the Cable Beach amphitheatre is expected to boost the local economy, with more than 800 delegates travelling to Broome and 30 businesses engaged to provide services.

Kimberley Land Council acting chief executive Tyronne Garstone said the organisation was “extremely proud to be bringing an event of this size and calibre to Broome”.

“The conference is the premiere event for people working within the native title sector and is key to the continued advancement of Aboriginal rights in relation to native title,” he said.

Key speakers include Senators Pat Dodson and Nigel Scullion, and Professor Michael Lavarch.
