Food, giving a winning combination

Broome Advertiser - - News - Rob Broadfield

The Telethon Weekend at Cable Beach Club combines some of the best things in life: good food, good wine, great friends and giving.

A life well lived is, in my experience, a life enriched by giving to those in our community who need our help.

West Australians have a reputation for being the best in the nation when it comes to looking after those in need — Telethon is the biggest charity fund raiser, per capita, in the world — and our Broome weekend proves that point.

It is no accident that the Broome weekend is one of the most talked about events in the country.

For the past five years, we’ve had a long wait-list of potential guests eager to join us on this 21⁄2 days of fun, food and frolics.

But, we made a decision early on that we would not expand the event — it is our belief that something gets lost when a small and very personal event for 110 people becomes a massive event for 350 or more.

All of us involved feel fortunate to be able to present this amazing weekend and to give to Telethon in a such a joyous and tangible way.

Thank you, Broome. Thank you Hawaiian and Cable Beach Club Resort. And thank you to the hundreds of people who work hard all year round to plan and execute this amazing weekend.
