Speed signs could stop a catastrophe

Broome Advertiser - - Opinion - Donalee Heseltine, Derby

To Main Roads Western Australia and the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley.

I’m writing to show support for getting a reasonable speed limit placed on the roads in the subdivision of Hamlet Grove, commonly referred to as the Gibb River Blocks.

Earlier in the year, an article in the Broome Advertiser stated we would see signage placed on Lennard Road and Windjana Road to show the speed limit to be 60km/h.

Now, government bureaucracy has once again lost all common sense and the good old “buck-passing” is alive and well.

I’m keeping it short and sweet and asking for signage ASAP as it’s not a case of if, but when, a catastrophe is going to happen.

At present, even if we call the police in regards to fast traffic, there seems to be little they can do as there is no posted speed limit.

Let’s get to work and actually make a sensible decision before too much longer please.
